Changes

Well I've made a few changes to my appearance lately. Too bad losing weight hasn't been one of them. I get so frustrated in doing my workout videos all the time and seeing no results! I want instant results.....can you tell?!?!

Well this is me and thehubs after our dinner date tonight. Hope you like the new hair.

long time, no write

It's been a few weeks since I've updated anything on here. I think mainly it's because I never have time to just sit down and think. I know many of you have been eagerly waiting for an update about my flylady experience. ha ha ha..
Well, it's going okay, but I have definitely not been doing all the babysteps that she recommends. I think a lot of her stuff is targeted for stay-at-home-moms. She encourages you to have a set morning routine and bedtime routine. I have my morning routine down on most days.

Get up.
Fix thehubs lunch, get him off to work.
Check email/Facebook/Blogger, etc
Do my Biggest Loser workout video
Spend some time in The Word and in prayer
Get ready for work....go to work

This usually takes me a few hours to do all of this, and I usually get to the office between 10 and 11, which is perfectly fine because I don't get home until 7 or 8 at night. The bedtime routine for me is a different story. I'm so worn out by that time that I usually am falling asleep on the couch and end up dragging myself upstairs to just take out my contacts and hop in the bed.
I'll get it all figured out one day. But my main goal with everything is to mainly keep an orderly house, and to begin taking steps towards de-cluttering things. =)

Now on to what else has been happing in our lives.

This past weekend was my dad's 50th birthday party. I must say, it was the most fun I've had in a long time! Mom bought a karaoke machine, so that was the focus of the party. Both sides of my entire family were there, and we had an absolute blast!
It made me get really excited about the Gatlinburg trip that my mom's family is taking in June. It will be my grandparents, aunt and uncles, cousins, their wives, mom, dad, my brother, and then thehubs and me. We are all very close, but rarely get to see each other much since we're all grown up and married....well all except my brother. Who knows about him and his gf. We guess they'll eventually get married, but I've quit asking questions. lol

I want to close this post by asking you guys to remember the Isbel family from our church in your prayers.
Last week the wife/mother was killed in a car accident. Their 4 month old son was in the car with her, and he is fine, but has suffered from a cracked skull and now they are saying that he is blind. The last update I received said that he can respond to light, but that is all.
So this leaves us with the father. He is left to take care of this precious baby boy and all the other things that go with maintaining a home. It has seriously just broken my heart. I don't even know that I have ever met them and introduced myself to them, but I know who they are. Precious, precious people. The wife/mother is from Honduras I believe, and so they have struggled until yesterday with getting her parents approved for Visas to come in for the funeral (which is today). Praise God that they were finally approved and should be here for the funeral.

Just please be praying for that baby boy and his sight....and the father, as his whole world has been turned upside-down.
But praise be to God that they are a Christian family and serve THE God who gives and takes away. Who provides peace beyond understanding....and who has a plan in ALL things for the good of those who love Him.
Thanks guys, I know the family appreciates it!

still trying

Well, I've done pretty good on my babysteps if you ask me. I've worked out 3 times this week, kept my kitchen sink shining, and have gotten dressed almost everyday.

However, right now I'm still in my pj's sitting here on the couch. I'm secretly waiting for it to start snowing so I'll actually have an excuse for being lazy. Until then, I must do some paperwork....I have a feeling Gateway won't be closing today. =(

The only steps that have been added to my routine have been to put up sticky notes around the home. I plan to do this today. I'll place one above the kitchen sink reminding me (and Michael of course) that the dirty dishes go straight to the dishwasher, and that the sink needs to shine each day!
The other sticky note will be in the bathroom reminding me to get fully dressed everyday....this is going to be the hard one for me. I can clean just fine in my pj's, but I understand the concept!

Still waiting on the snow around here, I guess we'll see if we're actually going to get some accumulation! 1 inch and I'm good to go.....the whole world will shut down!

Day 2

Well today's baby step from FlyLady was to get up and get fully dressed. Shoes, hair, and makeup....the whole deal.

Considering I was up half the night sick due to my birth control, and was still feeling blah until about 3:00, this didn't get done until just a bit ago. I don't think that's what she meant, but hey...it's done now!

Some of you are probably thinking "does this girl not work?" and YES I do! I did some paperwork here at the house today, and had 3 visits scheduled. 2 out of the 3 have cancelled, and so I'm about to go to my one and only visit at 7.

Tomorrow I will try to do baby step 2 as soon as I get Michael off to work and do my workout video. I'm determined to go through with all of this!

FlyLady

I found FlyLady while reading A Wife After God's Own Heart last night. The chapter was on managing the home, and it recommended that you go to that website. So I did.

And I fell in love all over again! lol
I'm telling you, this website is amazing! I signed up, and now I have the next 31 days to complete the "baby steps" of being a "flybaby". There is so much more that is on the site, but FlyLady (FL) recommends that you complete the baby steps before worrying about anything else.
So today is day one, and my task is to get my kitchen sink spick and span. Click HERE to see FL's step-by-step guide on how to do this. As I type, I have Clorox soaking. So I'm having to keep an eye on PennyLane too, don't want a dead cat on my hands!

My blogs will be focused on my babysteps over the next 31 days, hope you enjoy!Along with this, I've also decided to begin working out again. This morning was day one for that as well. My Biggest Loser DVD had some dust on it, but worked just fine. Hopefully I'll have a healthy body and a clean clean home by the spring!

And here are the results...
Before

After

I'm pretty impressed!

Crazy Love

So I just started reading "Crazy Love" today by Francis Chan. Our Sunday School class is going through it together. I knew it would be an amazing book just based on the following quote by Chris Tomlin from the Foreward.

Isn't it interesting that in Acts 11, at the end of verse 26, it says, "The disciples were called Christians first at Antioch." What I find interesting is the simple thought that the Christians didn't name themselves. But rather, they were called (or named) "Christians" by those watching their lives. I wonder if it would be the same today. Could someone look at your life or look at my life and name me a Christian? A humbling question for sure.

So I looked up the definition of Christian.....just to see if my life reflects the meaning of it.....

Christian: one who professes belief in the teachings of Jesus Christ. Disciple

Thank you, Lord, for your grace!
